It's Easter season, which means no excuses needed to consume (large quantities of) chocolate. This week we pick our favorite places to indulge your Easter sweet tooth.
If you, like many people, gave up chocolate and sweets for Lent, it's just a few more days until you can savor that indulgence once again. If you are just a chocolate or sweets lover, you'll like our picks this week, too. This week we're telling you about our favorite local places to find the sweet stuff.

Visit a local favorite for delicious hometown handmade chocolates, also featuring thematic Easter holiday choices and packaging. Don’t miss the chocolate-covered strawberries.
The Easter Bunny will visit the shop Saturday from noon to 4 p.m.
Hours: Monday-Thursday 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Friday-Saturday 10 a.m.-7 p.m.; Sunday 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

No need to take a trip to Europe to find old world European artisanal chocolate—just visit this word-of-mouth favorite. The owners create confections that include fresh fruit purees and spices. If you are a wine lover, be sure to check out their special offerings designed to pair with specific wines.
If you are looking for all things candy, including hard to find nostalgic selections, this is the place to go. The store also features a large selection of Jelly Belly jellybeans. It also sells Lori’s Legendary Cookies by Danville’s Lori Nader Gray. Gray is the founder of Blue Chip Cookies and author of “From Cover Girl to Cookie Queen.”

The place: Miglet’s Cupcake Shop

The creations in this shop are delicious anyway you slice it. That the shop’s confections also let people on gluten-restricted diets join in on the sweet fun is just icing on the proverbial cupcake. It also has special items for Easter, including chocolate bunny lollipops, hand-made gummy bunnies and vegan items.

Note: A new haunt for chocolate lovers, Chocolatier Blue, which began as a small shop in Berkeley, is coming to Blackhawk Plaza at the beginning of the summer.
