DANVILLE, CA — Two workers at Pete’s Brass Rail have raised over $16,000 on GoFundMe to help their coworker suffering with cancer. Organizers Samantha Paulus and Alexandra Popper said that Miguel Garcia, a long-time, beloved employee, has been told that his chemotherapy is not working, and he has about three months to live. He has been out of work for a while, and needs helping covering medical bills and taking care of his son and wife.

“I care about him because I worked closely alongside him for so long, and I’ve seen how hard he works for his family,” Paulus told Patch in an email. “He loved to joke around and poke fun, but I always knew he had my back and cared about not only me, but my friends and family as well. His incredible work ethic and kind heart have inspired me and will continue to inspire me every day.”

“Miguel’s legacy at Pete’s Brass Rail will never be forgotten,” Sam and Alex said in a joint statement. “He was a bright light at Pete’s and put a smile on everyone’s face who got to meet him. Customers and staff all loved him and his hardwork and kind heart will always be remembered. We are very grateful to everyone who has donated and spread the word of the gofundme. This money is for his family and his medical bills once Miguel is no longer with us. Thank you all.”
