San Ramon Valley Education Foundation Announces Grant Funding

This year's total amount awarded exceeds last year's total by more than $5,000, according to the nonprofit.

DANVILLE, CA — The San Ramon Valley Education Foundation announced Monday it has awarded 123 teacher grants totaling $72,443 to the San Ramon Valley Unified School District, including 28 music and science grants funded by the SRVEF Endowment Committee.

This year’s total amount awarded exceeds last year's total by more than $5,000, according to the nonprofit.

Over the past several weeks, the SRVEF grants committee read and reviewed over 350 grant applications submitted from SRVUSD schools, according to the foundation. It partnered with DonorsChoose.org for the application process; external supporters and matching funds helped to extend the SRVEF grant funding this year, SRVEF said.

“We would like to thank the SRVUSD teachers for their commitment to the writing of the grant applications for the benefit of our students,” said Gary Alpert, SRVEF president. “We also want to acknowledge the community for their support of the 36th annual Run for Education and the Rotary Club of San Ramon’s Auction for Education. Widespread support of these two events is what enables the foundation to offer such a robust grants program supporting SRVUSD students and schools.”

The SRVEF grant program is funded primarily through proceeds from the Run for Education and the Auction for Education. The endowment grant program is funded through the SRVEF annual donation drive and annual recognition dinner.

Unfunded teacher grants will remain active on the DonorsChoose.org website for approximately two more months, during which time the grants may continue to receive external funding, including funding from individual and corporate donors, and matching fund donors. If a grant is not fully funded by the expiration date, any external money pledged is returned to the donor.
