Shopping for a Home for a Large Family

I imagine that being part of a large family is fun. I grew up as one of two kids (I have a little brother I enjoyed torturing), and my children can say the same (the torturing goes both ways with those two).

My cousin Matthew has six children. Yes, six!

With our two children in tow, my husband and I visited their busy happy home (in Pennsylvania) not too long ago. Volume of this magnitude must be a constant logistical challenge: cooking for so many, not to mention finding enough chairs for everyone (and the visitors). I can’t even imagine the arrangements that must be made when all six have sports events or birthday parties at the same time in different locations.

One of the biggest logistical feats for large families would be making sure there's room for everyone in the home. This week I took a look at homes for sale with at least six bedrooms. Here’s a sampling:

Alamo

2538 Roundhill Drive  is offered by Rich Moreno of Sotheby’s. There are 118 homes on the market in Alamo. Of those, 112 are detached single-family homes, 12 of which have six or more bedrooms.
