Skatepark Discussions Resume In Danville, Public Input Sought

The Town of Danville wants to determine residents' interest in a skatepark facility and a possible location.

DANVILLE, CA — How much interest do Danville residents have in seeing a multi-use skatepark open in Town? That is a question Danville Town Council would like to see answered.

In October, the council will resume discussions over a skatepark. In order to prepare, the Town has opened a survey on Open Town Hall to determine residents’ interest in a skatepark facility and a possible location. The survey can be found at https://www.opentownhall.com/7798.

A skatepark was first suggested as part of the 2017 Danville Parks, Recreation & Arts Strategic Plan. In the Town's 2017-18 budget, $20,000 was allocated to conduct a skatepark feasibility study. The study identified potential locations, as well as what amenities would go into the facility. Information on the study can be found at www.danville.ca.gov/skateparkstudy.

In September 2018, the Town Council accepted the study but did not recommend a park location. The issue was returned to staff to seek further input from the community regarding support for a skatepark and possible locations.

The survey will run through Sept. 15, 2019, and all results will be presented to the Town Council for discussion.
