Solar Eclipse From Danville: Photo Of The Day

Danville resident Bob Schiff created this image from a short video he took of the eclipse from his backyard.

To create this image, Schiff stacked multiple frames from a short video clip that he captured using a CMOS astrophotography camera attached to one of his telescopes.

DANVILLE, CA — Cloudy skies didn’t stop Patch’s resident astronomer Bob Schiff from capturing the “ring of fire” solar eclipse on Saturday, when the moon blocked the sun.

The clouds parted about 45 minutes after its peak obscuration, at about 9:20 a.m. Saturday, and Schiff went to his backyard. To create the image above, he stacked multiple frames from a short video clip that he captured using a CMOS astrophotography camera attached to one of his telescopes.

The eclipse was visible throughout the western United States, as well as Mexico and Central America, Saturday morning and afternoon. See here for a full path map and further information from NASA.
