Dougherty Valley High School in San Ramon, where Banerjee attends school, is one of two SRVUSD comprehensive high schools that is scheduled to open a Wellness Center on their campus in the 2020-21 school year. The Wellness Center is designed to be a place where students can go during the school day to speak with a caring adult when they feel pressure, stress or anxiety or they just need to take a break.

The SRVUSD has made student mental wellness a priority. Wellness Centers were identified as a priority in the District’s Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) and were one of five recommendations that resulted from the work of a Mental Wellness Task Force. Additionally, the SRVUSD Leadership Priorities emphasize the importance of student wellness as an essential component of overall student success. As part of a multi-tiered system of support, the Wellness Centers are another way that the District can focus on and nurture positive social emotional learning for all students.
