Suspected Danville Bank Robber Found Dead, Police Say
The serial bank robber FBI officials dubbed the 'Faux Badge Bandit' was discovered dead following a robbery in Goleta.

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, CA — A man suspected of robbing at least nine banks throughout California, including one in Danville and trying to rob another in San Ramon, was found dead Friday in Goleta, police officials said.
Following the July 12 robbery in Danville, Fresno resident Keith David Goodwin, 41, was identified by investigators using the town’s ALPR camera system, which captured images of the bank robbery suspect’s red Nissan Altima, according to Town of Danville officials. Danville investigators had a warrant for Goodwin’s arrest in connection with the robbery of the First Republic Bank.
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office said Goodwin, whom the FBI dubbed the "Faux Badge Bandit" because of a seven-point badge he sometimes wore on his hip, robbed a bank at 10:45 a.m. Friday in Goleta, then hid in a nearby nail salon.
