Take-Out Parking Zones In The Works: Downtown Danville

The Town of Danville announced Monday plans to make temporary parking zones for people picking up food.

DANVILLE, CA — The Town of Danville announced it is working on improving access for take-out customers at downtown restaurants.

Town Manager Joe Calabrigo said in a statement that the Danville Area Chamber of Commerce is helping coordinate a temporary parking area for people who need to quickly park and pick up a food order.

The location of the spots has not yet been announced.

Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Zae Perrin told Patch restaurants have been hit particularly hard and the pick-up zone would give local businesses a boost while ensuring social distancing is respected.

The news comes a day after Gov. Gavin Newsom called on restaurants to focus on take-out orders, reducing dine-in capacity by half and ensuring patrons are kept some six feet from one another.

Calabrigo urged the community to refrain from panicking, get outdoors to exercise and encourage one another.

"We’re all blessed to live in this wonderful town," he wrote. "Our strong sense of community is a big part of that, and it is that very sense of community that will bring us safely through this."
