Town Of Danville : Plaque Ceremonies Set For November 13

As part of Danville’s ongoing efforts to recognize and commemorate community history, the Heritage Resource Commission will be unveiling plaques at ceremonies highlighting two of the Town’s historic resources on Saturday, November 13, 2021.  A plaque for the Osborn House, located at the corner of Diablo Road and Serena Lane, will be unveiled at 11:30 a.m. Danville Town Council, Heritage Resource Commission, and Town staff will be on hand to unveil the historic plaque and then move to the Love House, located at 357 Love Lane, for the second unveiling around 12:00 noon.

The Osborn House was built in the mid-1880s and was owned by the great-grandson of Daniel Boone, Leonidas Boone, in 1871. The Greek Revival-style home was beautifully restored in the 1980s. The Love House, built around 1860, was owned by early pioneers Robert B. Love and Amelia Harvey Love. The Love House was on a farm that included most of the west side of Danville and has been beautifully maintained over the years.  

Town of Danville Chief of Planning David Crompton said the plaque program is designed to call attention to Danville’s rich history and provide residents with a sense of the historical significance of these sites.
