Vegan Chef Challenge To Kick Off At Contra Costa Co. Restaurants

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — Chefs throughout Contra Costa County will be adding vegan menus at their restaurants for the inaugural "Contra Costa Vegan Chef Challenge," Oct. 1-31.

Sixteen restaurants, including Danville restaurants Crumbs, Esin Restaurant & Bar, and Melo’s Pizza & Pasta, will be offering at least three new vegan menu items for the month and diners will vote on the best in several categories.

The idea is to introduce non-vegans and vegans to plant-based dishes from local chefs, according to event organizers.

Diners at participating restaurants are also the judges of the challenge and may vote for their
favorite dishes. Winners of the challenge will be announced in early November. The person who dines at most participating restaurants will win a prize, too.
