2nd Friday ArtAbout: Stroll, Meet, Greet, Schmooze, Sip and Nibble.

This month's ArtAbout features attractions unique to downtown Davis, including galleries, thrift shops, doctors offices, record stores and dozens more.

Since its inception 10 years ago, has been offering a venue for art lovers to talk to artists about their work. Now under the direction of the Downtown Davis Business Association, ArtAbout expands its repertoire to include musical performances and a smorgasbord of gourmet refreshments.

The presents "Playing With Food," sculpture made of "culled produce."

showcases its tenth annual "California Landscape Exhibit," including plein air paintings.

hosts its August Studio Sale; sculpture, paintings, crafts and more featuring special prices for Artery members.

Davis Developmental Pediatrics Group features "The Team Davis Artistic Celebration," paintings of sports by Team Davis Special Olympics athletes.

Over at the , viewers can "Look Through Abstraction," paintings by Suzie Valdrow placed on the bookshelves.

The restaurant is going to host a reception for artist Roger Smith, creator of "The Idaho Kid" series of nudes and other subjects, while DJ Mr. Glass spins soul music.

On campus, the Richard L. Nelson Gallery hosts a reception for its exhibition of works by Cezanne, Degas, Goya and Matisse.
