About Berryessa Gap: In 1969 the forbearers of Berryessa Gap began cultivating and selling dormant rootstock and grafted vines grown in the rich soils found along Putah Creek on the outskirts of Winters, California a small rural community nestled in the coastal foothills just east of Napa. The winery’s Cobel Ranch Vineyard, located in the foothills of the California Coastal Range, was planted over a decade ago and occupies former sheep grazing land that once produced champion rams. The rugged terrain doesn’t faze fifth generation Yolo County farmer Dan Martinez who along with farming partner Santiago Moreno produced the rootstock, planted the vineyard and now cultivates the grapes. UC Davis viticulture researcher and Berryessa Gap winemaker Mike Anderson converts this premium fruit into Berryessa Gap’s award winning wines including the 2008 Rocky Ridge Tempranillo, a San Francisco Chronicle Top 100 wine. The winery also produces classic California Zinfandel and Petite Sirah as well Iberian whites. Tasting room hours at 15 Main Street in downtown Winters are Thursday 4:30pm-8:30pm, Friday 12-8:30pm, Saturday 11:00am-8:30pm, and Sunday 11am-4pm. The winery tasting room is open Tuesday through Saturday from 12pm-4pm and by appointment. Please visit our website for more information: www.berryessagap.com
About Turkovich Family Wines: Surrounded by rich agricultural land and soaked in the warm California sun, Turkovich Family Wines produces quality small-lot wines from the best vineyards in Western Yolo County. Winemaker and third-generation farmer Christopher Turkovich returned to his hometown after traveling the world making wine. In 2007, Chris started the winery and planted the estate vineyard, which is located in the Winters, CA region, less than five miles from Napa County and a hidden gem for growing quality wine grapes. Chris' brother Daniel, followed in his footsteps to study winemaking at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. However, through hands-on experience working at the Cal Poly Creamery, Daniel discovered his passion was not making wine, but making artisan cheese. Upon graduation, Daniel eagerly returned to his hometown of Winters, CA to establish a cheese company and continue a family tradition of making fine agricultural products. Our tasting room is located in Historic Downtown Winters, CA. We offer complimentary wine and cheese tasting seven days a week noon to 5:00 pm, open as a wine bar Thursday through Saturday 5:00pm 8:00pm.
