Blog: New Quarter. New Beginning.
The new kid in town looks back at fall quarter and anticipates the start of winter quarter as a UC Davis student!

Any student can tell you that university life can be difficult and stressful. I realized this as a student in a community college, but one quarter at UC Davis really tested my abilities.
I learned quite a bit at UC Davis in my first quarter. It’s hard to believe I didn’t know my way around . Now I follow shortcuts to other buildings without even thinking about it.
I have developed my favorite places to sit and review for a quiz or catch up on assigned reading. Griffin Lounge is one of them. I know where the hot spots are to get a bite to eat, such as the or the . I also know to be extremely conscientious of bicyclists as a pedestrian on a campus.

I feel a sense of pride sitting in class, knowing that I’m an active student in an acclaimed university like UC Davis. I have learned a great deal from my very intelligent teachers. My classwork has challenged me in ways that I have never been challenged before. I feel honored to be among the company of such intelligent classmates and to learn from them as well.
I watched the university -- both teachers and students -- speak out and capture international attention through the pepper spray incident on the quad. There is no denying that there is something special about being an Aggie.

Now a new quarter is among us. I feel like just a moment ago I was ducking into air-conditioned buildings to escape the summer heat in June. I blinked, and now I’m suddenly entering the winter quarter.
I’m excited to be back in Davis, having been out of town for the majority of winter break. I’m also excited about the start of a fresh quarter with new classes. Who doesn’t like to start with a clean slate?
I apologize for the absence of blogging. With a busy quarter last fall, I found that time seemed to escape me with the mountain of essays and homework. It’s hard to write blog posts on a routine basis. I’ll continue to write about my little adventures in Davis as often as I can.
Cheers to 2012: the start of a new year and a new beginning!
