Davis Students Win Regionals in Toshiba ExploraVision Science & Technology Competition
Two Davis students win Regional in Toshiba ExploraVision, the world's largest K-12 student science and technology competition.

Two students from Davis School for Independent Study/Peregrine School in Davis, CA move on to the national round of the 2013 Toshiba ExploraVision program, the world's largest K-12 sudent science and technology competition.
Lila B. Boutin (K) and Tess C. Boutin (3rd), coached by Cathy Scarr and Kristen Olotka created the Flying Photocatalytic Pollution Frog. The Flying Photocatalytic Pollution Frog will “eat” airplane pollution like a frog eats insects. This new device attaches to an airplane engine and sprays photocatalytic materials behind it. These materials would then interact with sunlight and help to decompose harmful pollutants in the atmosphere, scrubbing the air clean.
The girls were selected as one of 24 regional winners from a group of 5,206 entries, with a total of 15,963 students from across the U.S. and Canada.

Toshiba ExploraVision asks students to imagine ideas for future technologies that could exist in 20 years. Lila and Tess will now expand on their idea and submit it for national judging in April!
We wish the girls best of luck!
