Blog: Farewell, Davis!
After two years in Davis, I'll be leaving my "second home" for the next stop- the "real world."

It seemed like yesterday I was moving into my first apartment in Davis and starting my junior year as a UC Davis transfer student. In reality, that was almost exactly two years ago.
Earlier way, this week I moved out of Davis for good.
I cannot begin to describe how much I will miss it here; in the two years that I’ve lived in Davis, I’ve come to consider it my second home.

When I first told people I would be moving to Davis for school, some wrinkled their noses. “Davis is so boring- there's nothing to do!” “What is there to do besides tip cows?” were a couple of the responses I was met with.
It’s no Santa Barbara, where students can hang out at the beach after class. Nor is it a big city like San Francisco or Los Angeles. Still, I was always able to find plenty to do.

When the weather was good, I enjoyed longboarding through the parks. After I got tired of eating lunch on campus, I would walk downtown with a few friends in search of someplace new to eat. And on birthdays, we would head to Bar Bernardo.
These were some of the memories that filled my head as I packed up my last boxes and fervently scrubbed down the apartment. (I made sure to save as much stuff from the dumpster by giving away furniture, dishes and other miscellaneous items to friends and the Donation Station at my apartment complex.)
Of course, this isn’t goodbye forever—I do intend to return to Davis from time to time. Only then, it’ll be as a visitor and alumna of UC Davis, rather than a resident and UC Davis student.
Until then, I will always have Davis Patch to keep me informed of the latest happenings!
