Join in a Traveling Performance Experience: 'Nectare' at UC Davis!
A traveling dance performance presented in Nelson Gallery, UC Davis.
“Nectare” is a journey in dance which actively involves the viewer in its presentation as it explores time and space, emotion and narrative. Set in a traditional art gallery, audience members physically weave their way among various choreographies.
The event is a collaboration between UC Davis Master of Fine Arts candidates Jarrell Iu-Hui Chua and Christine Germain, a preview to both their Master of Fine Arts theses, which are to take place in February and March. The show will run in the Nelson Gallery, UC Davis on Thursday, Nov. 15 at 7:00 p.m. It is open to the public and free of charge. The event, open to the public and free of charge, is rated R for mature content including nudity.
Chua and Germain present dances which they choreographed separately and collaborated on arranging throughout the gallery, creating a movement installation of living art. The viewer wanders through the space and engages with the choreographers and dancers on their creative journey.
Chua’s pieces were inspired by maps and travel, charting the emotional and physical body, as well as relationships between the body, the self and gender relationships.

Germain’s dances also examine travel in the way that it shapes personal identity. She was inspired by the relationship of the body in space, as well as identity and relationships with the body.
