UC Davis Farmers Market Returns Wednesday
UC Davis Farmers Market: Every Wed. 11-1:30 on the Silo Patio @ UC Davis. Starts Oct. 3rd. Fresh produce, food vendors, live music, & plenty of fun!
This fall marks the start of the first full year return of the UC Davis Farmers Market, formerly known as the East Quad Farmers market. The UC Davis Farmers Market can be found Wednesdays, 11:00am to 1:30pm, on the Silo Patio during fall and spring quarters. The first market of the fall quarter is on Wednesday, October 3rd, 2012. This central location offers easy access to students and staff during lunchtime or for a snack between classes.
With UC Dining Services as the new lead campus sponsor, the UC Davis Farmers Market is more student-friendly than ever! Students with meal plans can now trade in swipes or Aggie Cash for vouchers to be used at the UC Davis Farmers Market. Swipes and Aggie Cash can easily be exchanged on the spot at the Dining Services table. This service promotes the consumption of healthy, locally grown foods, and will be a convenient resource for students, especially incoming freshman.
The market offers a variety of fruits and vegetables available from several farmers, so students and staff can find plenty of healthy additions to their lunch. In addition to the main vendors within the Silo, the Silo Patio will also feature Star Ginger Food Truck, Shah’s Halal Food, Gunrock Pub Food Booth and new this quarter, the ASUCD Coffee House will be selling iced coffee and ‘CoHomade’ pastries! Many fun new activities will be part of this year’s UC Davis Farmers Market, including face painting by the Davis Food Co-op and live music from local artists and DJs coordinated by KDVS. Don’t forget the UC Davis Farmers Market is a zero waste event, so be sure to dispose of your organic waste in a compost bin and bring your reusable bag!
The UC Davis Farmers Market began as the East Quad Farmers Market in 2007. The UC Davis Farmers Market is sponsored by UC Dining Services, UC Davis Campus Recreations and Unions, the Davis Farmers Market Association, the Davis Food Co-op, UC Davis Student Health and Counseling Services, ASUCD Coffee House and UC Davis Stores.
