City Of Davis: City Plans Design Test For 14th St Starting Nov. 8; Launches Survey

The City of Davis announced today that it will conduct a test of a new design for road safety enhancements with a two-way cycle track on 14th Street between Oak Avenue and B Street and intersection enhancements at 14th Street and Oak Avenue.

The test design will be installed on Friday, Nov. 5, and Sat., Nov. 6, and will be removed on Saturday, Nov. 13. Consultants from Fehr & Peers, a transportation consulting company, and City staff will be at the location during the week of Nov. 8 to make observations. 

Community feedback will be critical for making final design decisions on this project. The public is asked to participate in a survey during the Nov. 8 test week at:

The City will test improvements that are designed to improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists. During the test design period, please be aware of these temporary changes:

• There will be no parking on the north side of 14th Street from Oak Ave. to B St. 
• The Unitrans bus stop on 14th Street and B Street will move slightly east toward F St.
• The left turn pocket lanes on 14th St at Oak Avenue will be eliminated during the test, but drivers can still make left turns. 
• There will be no parking at the corners of 14th Street and Oak Avenue.

The City asks students and parents of students to allow for extra time for school drop-off and pick-up during this test period. In the event of significant rain, the test will be postponed.

This pilot test is the first step in the 14th St Corridor project. The City was awarded a $920,000 grant from the Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) for the entire project in 2015. 

Community input meetings will be scheduled during the winter and spring of 2022 with final design occurring the latter half of 2022. Construction will take place during the summer of 2023. For additional project information, click the link below:
