Connie Post and CJ Morello Perform at the John Natsoulas Gallery August 16^th

The Poetry Night Reading Series is proud to welcome poet Connie Post and CJ Morello on Thursday, August 16^th at 8 P.M. They will be performing at the John Natsoulas Gallery at 521 1st Street in Davis.

Connie Post is the Poet Laureate Emerita of Livermore, California, and the author of seven books of poetry; most recently, And When the Sun Drops. Her poetry has been widely anthologized and has appeared in dozens of journals, including Calyx, Poetalk, Pedestal Magazine, and Tule Review. 

She has received over ninety awards for her poetry, which has placed or won in the Caesura Poetry Contest, The Bay Area Poets Coalition Contest, “Best of your Best” contest for California State Poetry Society,” and the 90th Annual Ina Coolbrith Contest (2009) in the category of ”Poets Choice,” among others.

Connie also created two new poetry series in Livermore (titled “Wine and Words” and the “Ravenswood Poetry Series”) to expand the growth local arts and literature. She also runs the popular reading series “The Valona Deli Second Sunday Poetry Series” in Crockett, CA.

CJ Morello is a graduate student of poetry in the UC Davis MA program. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Philosophy at the University of Chicago. He is inspired by the poetry of the 19th century romantics, especially Milosz, Crane, Strand, Kenneth Koch, and Thomas Lux. He is the recipient of the Jack Kerouac Poetry Prize, and is the youngest winner ever.

Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to the John Natsoulas Gallery to secure a seat, and to sign up for a spot on the Open Mic list. The Poetry Night Reading Series, organized and hosted by Andy Jones and produced by Evan White, occurs on the first and third Thursday of every month at the John Natsoulas Gallery in the Arts and Entertainment District known as Downtown Davis. The Poetry Night Reading Series is made possible by the support of the Cultural Action Committee of Davis.
