Davis Youth Flute Choir

The Davis Youth Flute Choir will perform its 29^th Annual Summer Music Concert, featuring both classical and jazz music, Thursday, July 19, at 7:30 p.m.  The choir, directed by Maquette Kuper, will perform in atrium of the Davis Art Center at 1919 F Street.

The Davis Youth Flute Choir performs with piccolo, flute, alto flute and bass flute, creating a unique sound.  The group will premiere a new arrangement by Fredrick Lange of J.S. Bach’s Concerto in E Major.  Fredrick Lange, recently retired director of DHS bands, will lead the group in jazz pieces including Henry Mancini’s Pink Panther Suite. The jazz combo will include DHS current and past jazz band members Noah Wolfe ‘13, guitar; Stefan Waterstraat ‘11, drums and Andy McCauley ’11, bass.

The Davis Youth Flute Choir recently returned from Korea where it represented the city of Davis and the USA at concerts at EXPO 2012 in Yeosu and sister-city Sangju,  as well as the city of Daejeon. The choir also organizes annual benefit concert performances which have raised funds for the music programs of Davis High School as well as the three junior high schools, Emerson, Harper and Holmes.   Each December, the choir performs holiday music at the Sacramento International Airport as well as in various Davis and Woodland venues.

Senior Choir members are Megan Campbell, Ben Cooper, Marta Drown, Lillian Feng, Karene Liu, Emma Maul, Ale Ruiz-Jimenez, and Sabrina Williams, flutes.  Kimia Nader, bassoon.

Junior Choir members are Lemuel Chang, Will Forrest, Anita Hashimoto,  Rayna Kibrya, Nicole Lim, and Karoline Magolske. For further information, call the Davis Art Center at 756-4100. 

Tickets are available at the Davis Art Center for $5.00 per student and $8.00 adult.  At the door, tickets are $10.00 per person.
