Solstice - Dance of Light (choral concert)

On three nights in December, the Vocal Art Ensemble of Davis will present its winter concert, Solstice - Dance of Light.

The mixed a cappella chorus will perform intimate medieval, renaissance and modern works, both sacred and secular, on the theme of embracing darkness and light. The chorus will be joined by Ecokinesis Dance Company to celebrate the human relationship with the natural world through music and dance.

The turning point in the concert will be Samuel Barber’s Agnus Dei, a choral setting of his celebrated Adagio for Strings.  The concert will also feature piano compositions by local composer Jacob Dunaway and instrumental support from members of the Dolanc String Quartet.
