Flood Watch For Sacramento Valley Issued By NWS
Residents within the flood watch area are advised to remain alert should a flood warning be issued.

DAVIS, CA — With an atmospheric river expected to bring heavy rains to Northern California, the National Weather Service Sacramento Area has issued a flood watch for Sacramento Valley, Carquinez Strait and Delta and northern San Joaquin Valley. The flood watch is set to go into effect at 5 p.m. Friday and continue until 11 a.m. Sunday.
A flood watch means that based on current forecasts there is potential for flooding. Residents within the watch area are advised to remain alert should a flood warning be issued.
Forecasters with NWS Sacramento Area said rain would begin Thursday and continue into early Sunday morning, with the heaviest precipitation night through Saturday morning.

Rainfall of 1 to 3 inches is possible in the Valley and 3 to 7 inches in the foothills and mountains.
"Roadway and small stream flooding possible across northern interior California," forecasters said. "Mud and rock slides are also possible. During periods of heavy rain ponding of water on roadways is possible. Moderate rises will occur on mainstem and mountain rivers, streams and some weirs."
