Handicap spaces, hatchets, hamburgers, and heat

Prowling the Davis police logs

From illegal parking to healthy ways to deal with unemployment, some sticky situations stuck out on the Davis Police log. Here are some of the highlights.

An elderly lady living in the Tanglewood Apartments on Cowell Blvd reports that a car was parked in the same handicap space for two weeks without a placard. She told police she wants the owner of a grey Honda Accord to move the car so she can have her handicap parking place back.

On Saturday, at 7 p.m. an urgent call from two sisters reported a negligent dog walker in Arroyo Park on Shasta Dr.  Police arrived to protect the sisters from the suspect’s aggressive dog that was running around the park without a leash.  The man left before authorities arrived.  The sisters told police, “We were scared.”

Okay, so he might not be an axe murderer.  Still, you wonder why anyone would want to gut a tree at night?  For some reason, a suspicious man was loitering around 2nd and E Street with a hatchet.  He was last seen wearing a turquoise shirt, grey slacks and a backpack.

Check your backpack.  A lost wallet with a credit card was found at the Stop and Shop Food Mart on Anderson Rd.  The cashier clerk said they were waiting for the owner to come back for two months.  The wallet was turned into police for safe keeping.

A new take on the term "will work for food".  A hamburger flipper kept showing up to work at the Jack in the Box on G Street even after he was fired. The employee refused to leave even after he was terminated.

On beating the heat, eight juveniles were caught sneaking into the resort-style pool cabana of The Edge Apartments on 4005 Cowell Blvd.  The trespassers did not live in the residence said a maintenance pool worker. When he asked them to leave one of the boys said,  “I just want to go for a dip.”
