Patelco Members Help Raise $20,000 For Children's Miracle Network

Members Meet "Giving Tuesday" Challenge to Support Bay Area Children's Miracle Network Clinics

PLEASANTON, Calif.Patelco Credit Union recently partnered with CO-OP Network, an organization that connects 3,500 credit unions to offer members extended free ATM and branch services, to raise awareness and $20,000 for Bay Area Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) hospitals. Patelco challenged its members to delay holiday shopping on Black Friday and instead shop on “Giving Tuesday,” December 1st for the “Shop for Miracles” campaign. Every Patelco debit or credit card swipe, scan and online purchase members made on Giving Tuesday, the credit union pledged to donate $.25 toward the CMN. The challenge goal was 40,000 debit and credit purchases to raise $10,000 and members met the challenge. In addition, CO-OP matched every dollar Patelco raised, which brought the total donation to $20,000.

“Families of all walks of life may find themselves in need of unexpected or long-term rehabilitation care and, thanks to the generosity of Patelco and their members; we are able to continue to help our families in their most critical moments,” said Katie Kendrick, Director Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, Children’s Hospital & Research Center Foundation.


“This was an amazing opportunity for our members to avoid the lines and chaos of Black Friday and put their holiday shopping toward supporting our local Children’s Miracle Network,” said CEO and President Erin Mendez. “We have a long-standing relationship with the Children’s Miracle Network and know first-hand how much a financial boost like this will help children and families in the communities we serve.”

How it worked: Patelco members made their holiday or daily purchases on December 1st and for the first 40,000 debit or credit card purchases, Patelco and CO-OP each pledged $.25 toward the Bay Area CMNs. The organizations aimed to donate $10,000 each with a total of $20,000 going toward the Oakland, San Francisco and Davis CMN locations.
