SPECIAL EVENT: DAVIS AND YOLO COUNTY OFFICERS TO DISCUSS ELDER ABUSE AND FRAUD

Officers from the Yolo County District Attorney's office and the Davis Police Department to lead a talk on the prevention of elder fraud.

Officers from the Elder Protection Unit of Yolo County District Attorney’s Office and Davis Police Department will meet with residents, guests and workers at Carlton Plaza of Davis about the threats, signs and prevention techniques of elder abuse and fraud. The elder abuse awareness seminar will be held Wednesday, February 25, at 3 p.m.

Kevin Clark, an enforcement officer of Yolo County’s Elder Protection Unit and Ron Trn, a detective from the Davis Police Department, will discuss the unfortunate truths of elder abuse and fraud.

Topics to be covered at the seminar include elder abuse; elder fraud; what the district attorney’s office does to prevent fraud and abuse; the DA’s fraud unit and what they do; and how to file a report with the elder protection unit.

“We’re going to conduct an elder abuse and fraud presentation – how to report it, what it looks like – and we’ll be giving real examples of victims and their stories,” said Clark.

In addition to this educational lecture and others like it, the Yolo County District Attorney’s office hosts the annual Yolo-Sacramento County Fraud Awareness Fair.

“It is vital for us to protect vulnerable citizens from abuse and fraud,” said Rob Read, executive director of Carlton Plaza of Davis. “Anything we can do to educate our residents, their friends and the community will help dissuade criminals who are preying on the elderly.”
