Suspected Credit-Card Thief Sought In Davis, Vacaville
Police said the credit cards were swiped from handbags of teachers at area schools.
DAVIS, CA – The Davis Police Department today released video-surveillance photographs of a suspect wanted in connection with credit cards stolen from teachers' classrooms and used at various retailers.
The first theft was logged Jan. 31 at Fred T. Korematsu Elementary School in Davis after the victim reported her wallet was stolen from her purse, which was left in an empty classroom. Her credit cards then were used to make purchases at the Target in Davis and Safeway in Vacaville, the Davis Police Department said.
A similar incident was reported Feb. 7 at Montgomery Elementary school in Davis, and the stolen credit cards were used at Michael’s and Nordstrom Rack in Vacaville, police said.

Both thefts occurred between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. when the classrooms were empty, police said.
"At this point, we believe the suspect is not affiliated with the school district in any way and surrounding jurisdictions may be investigating similar events," the department said.
