Suspicious Item Closes Davis Amtrak Station, Nearby Streets
Capitol Corridor trains were delayed and streets were closed Thursday morning as the suspicious item was investigated.

DAVIS, CA — Streets in downtown Davis were closed and Capitol Corridor trains were delayed Thursday morning as police investigated what appeared to be a suspicious package outside the Amtrak station. At about 8 a.m., the Davis Police Department said officers were at "an incident" at Second and H streets, the site of the Davis Train Depot. Consequently, G Street and H Street were closed between First and Third streets and the public was asked to avoid the area.
The Yolo County Bomb Squad responded to assist in investigating the item, a local news source reported. Davis police Chief Darren Pytel told Davis Enterprise that a container with some items inside it was found just before 8 a.m.
Authorities shut down access to the train station for the safety of passengers and members of the public.

As the investigation of the container continued, departures of Capitol Corridor trains 531 and 524 were delayed in Sacramento and Fairfield, respectively.
By about 9:35 a.m., street closures were lifted and train service was restored. However, investigators were still at the scene, Davis police said on Twitter.
