“This morning we closed our dining room [in the Coffee House] and are take-out only,” said Darin Schluep, who manages the Coffee House, BioBrew and CoHo South locations for the Associated Students of UC Davis. “If folks want to order ahead of time they can use the Grubhub app to order and pay for food ahead of their visit.”

BioBrew and the CoHo South are closed, he said.

Just a day earlier, those locations had moved tables and chairs to allow for social distancing, highlighting how quickly the situation on campus — and beyond — is changing.

Similarly, all retail eateries operated by Dining Services — the newly reopened Peet’s in the Silo, Scrubs Cafe, the South Silo and elsewhere — are removing all seating and offering to-go orders only.

Those eateries are also moving self-service stations like salad bars, condiments and utensils behind the counter.

The dining commons remain open to serve students still living on campus, but have adjusted seating to allow for social distancing. Future changes will be noted on the Dining Services website.

ARC closed, Memorial Union open

In response to the governor’s recommendations, Campus Recreation closed all programs and facilities on both the Davis and Sacramento campus, including the 150,000 square foot Activities and Recreation Center. The department provides a full list and more information on its website.

The Memorial Union is open as scheduled for finals week, and will be open 7 a.m.–7 p.m. during spring break (March 23–26, closed March 27–29).

Shields Library has reduced its hours for the next two weeks because of lower demand.

Elsewhere on campus, Facilities staff are providing more ways to keep clean with 50 portable handwashing stations and 10 hand sanitizer dispensers installed in locations like the entrance to Shields Library.

Fewer cars means no stack parking

With the decreased crowds brought on by recent directives to cancel in-person finals and empower managers to make decisions on working remotely, the number of cars on campus has also dropped, leading Transportation Services to end the stack parking service that is usually needed to allow more vehicles to park in certain lots and structures around campus.

Unitrans has reduced service this week, and is operating its usual Break Service next week.
