Blog: Election Results for Prop J and Del Mar City Council Candidates

The 2012 election results for the City of Del Mar as of Wednesday, November 14

As of Wednesday, November 14 Prop J has lost in Del Mar. Countywide there are about 160,000 votes left to count, so in the City of Del Mar there are about 380 votes left to count. No on Prop J has 416 votes more than Yes on Prop J.  So it is now mathemically impossible for Prop J to win.

For city council there were only three candidates for three openings so the only race is to see which candidates come in first and second as these council members will eventually become the Mayor. Sherryl Parks and Al Corti are running one and two with Don Mosier a distant (20 votes behind) third. The interesting fact is that none of the candidates have received more than 49% of the vote. Normally when there are three openings and more than three people run, the winners received at least 50% of the vote.

Most likely more than half of the people who voted for or against Prop J did not vote for a council candidate. In another blog I will opine on the state of the city council in Del Mar.
