A Carmel Valley woman was arrested and cited with driving under the influence after she crashed into the San Elijo Avenue entrance of Carpentier Parkway in Cardiff-by-the-Sea Saturday, San Diego Sheriff's Deputy Oscar Butler said. Carpentier Parkway is a popular park.

The woman—whose name has not yet been released—claimed that her dog jumped out of the window, causing her to swerve and crash her Toyota Highlander, but no dog was ever found, he added. No injuries were reported and the estimated speed was not available.

The damage to the park has not yet estimated.

Members of Cardiff 101 have been in contact with the driver's insurance company, which will pay for the damage and is no longer soliciting donations, Morgan Mallory of Cardiff 101 told Patch.

"We're doing this for the community and we are delighted that we have this supporters and the community acknowledging our little gem," he said.
