This year’s theme: “Learn the sounds of fire safety.”

When an alarm sounds, know what to do. Sometimes an alarm beeps. Sometimes it chirps. What does each sound mean? Any sound coming from a smoke or carbon monoxide alarm is important and requires action to keep people and pets safe.

The fire service recommends installing smoke alarms in each bedroom or room used for sleeping, hallways leading to bedrooms, and on every level of the home. Homes also should be equipped with a carbon monoxide alarm on every level, especially near bedrooms.

The safety event will include information on kitchen safety, disaster preparedness, and protecting your home from wildfire.

Fire and lifeguard departments will display their fire engines, tools and rescue equipment.

Bands from The Rockademy will perform.

In addition to emergency responders, visitors can meet volunteers from local Community Emergency Response Teams, the Trauma Intervention Program, and representatives from SDG&E, Olivenhain Fire Safe Council, and the Burn Institute.
