Del Mar: Heat Wave Brings Call To Conserve Electricity

The request for voluntary conservation runs Saturday through Monday between 3 and 9 p.m.

With record heat in the forecast through the holiday weekend, operators of California’s power grid are calling for consumers to conserve electricity to prevent service interruptions.

The request for voluntary conservation runs Saturday through Monday between 3 and 9 p.m.

Air conditioning is the No. 1 source of increased demands on electricity, according to the California Independent System Operator. Consumers can conserve by setting air conditioning thermostats to 78 degrees, using fans, closing blinds and drapes, unplugging unused electrical devices, and using fans when possible.
