Del Mar Sheriff Issues Response After City Council Statement On Protests

Days after the City Council issued a letter to Sheriff William Gore acknowledging widespread civil unrest, the Sheriff released a "Response to Community Concerns." The 14-page document covers policies and procedures and includes an ethnicity breakdown of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

The City Council’s statement, published June 3 in response to incidents between law enforcement and the African American community, repudiates all forms of discrimination and calls for change to root out systemic racism to ensure equal justice is provided to all races under the law.

Signed by all City Council members, the letter urges the Sheriff to implement the necessary reforms to ensure law enforcement will protect and serve all Americans.
