The City Council’s statement, published June 3 in response to incidents between law enforcement and the African American community, repudiates all forms of discrimination and calls for change to root out systemic racism to ensure equal justice is provided to all races under the law.

Signed by all City Council members, the letter urges the Sheriff to implement the necessary reforms to ensure law enforcement will protect and serve all Americans.
