Del Mar's Most Dangerous Intersections Are...
San Diego County Sheriff's Department released data on the two most dangerous intersections and one throughway that have the most traffic collisions.
San Diego Sheriff's Department Capt. Robert Haley released data on the most accident prone intersections in Del Mar at Monday night's Del Mar City Council meeting.
The top three sites for traffic collisions in Del Mar are at Jimmy Durante and Via De La Valle near the Del Mar Fairgrounds, Coast Boulevard at 18th Street just North of Powerhouse Park, and along Camino Del Mar from 4th Street to Coast Boulevard, according to law enforcement data.
Haley said 52 traffic collisions were reported in 2012. None of these accidents resulted in fatalities. However, 18 resulted in injuries.
Top 3 Collision Sites Reported by SD Sheriff's:
- Camino Del Mar (18 blocks from 4th Street to Coast Boulevard) - 18 accidents
- Jimmy Durante and Via De La Valle - 14 accidents
- Coast Boulevard at 18th Street - 5 accidents
