Hat Making: Straw Blocking Workshop with Sinimay Straw

Jill Courtemanche Millinery is offering a two-day Straw Blocking Workshop where you will make your own open weave straw hat from start to finish using sinimay straw! Students will learn the technique of hat blocking, including: manipulating the straw on wooden hat forms, wiring the brim, finishing hats to the appropriate size, and basic trimming techniques. Taught by Courtemanche herself, in her Solana Beach studio, the workshop is July 18 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m and July 19 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Class size is limited and reservations are required.
