Israeli Food Brings People Together

San Diego, CA – March 20, 2015 – Tickets are selling fast for an amazing Israeli food event in San Diego
on Wednesday, March 25 at 7:00 p.m. with a visit by Food Network’s Great Food Truck race champion,
Middle Feast Food Truck from Los Angeles, local food vendors, wine and an amazing speaker Gil Hovav,
Israeli Food Critic and great-grandson of Eliezer Ben Yehuda, the founder of Modern Hebrew. Offered at
Bottles & Wood in Kearny Mesa, purchase tickets at: http://tarbuton.com/ Tarbutontickets.htm

If you travel in Israel, have lived there, have eaten in your Israeli friend’s homes, or have had the
pleasure of enjoying Israeli food in a restaurant in the U.S. that really knows how to do it, you know the
power of Israeli food and the way it brings people together. Israeli food oozes with heart, flavor and
variety with Middle Eastern, European, S. American and African influences. Nothing is more powerful
than stories of Israel mixed with an experience enjoying Israeli food together with friends.

When the Israeli American Council in Los Angeles, provided the opportunity to bring Gil Hovav to San
Diego, program managers, Amy Scher and Liron Scherson considered what else would make an evening
with Gil a hit. Having a food critic without the food seemed a wasted opportunity. Liron Scherson said,
“We know we have a lot of Food Network fans in our community, and the Middle Feast Food Truck in LA
– winner of the Great Food Race --was a great choice to add to this program! Wrapping in local vendors
gave us a real opportunity to support them and give participants a local fix for amazing Israeli food. “

The San Diego Israel Collaborative, powered by a grant from the Jewish Federation of San Diego
County’s NEXTGEN program, was created to bring together organizations in San Diego to build
meaningful experiences for 27-40 year olds and foster strong San Diego Israel connections. Amy Scher
said, “Congregation Beth El, Temple Emanu-El, and the Ken Jewish Community were early founders of
the San Diego Israel Collaborative, and since then Hadassah, Dor Hadash, and many more have joined in
planning and supporting events. We’re thrilled to see the expansion of the San Diego Israel Collaborative
and look forward to many more events to come.”
