Modern Hebrew Language Elementary School Enrichment Del Mar and Solana Beach School Districts. Deadline for Registration Sept 5.
Modern Hebrew classes Offered in Del Mar and Solana Beach School District After School Enrichment Programs. Deadline for Registration Sept 5

K-6 – Hebrew @ San Diego Public Elementary Schools
The Tarbuton offers Modern Hebrew in San Diego’s public elementary school programs after school in addition to offering programs in La Costa, Encinitas, Carmel Valley/Del Mar, La Jolla, Del Cerro/College. The public school program is believed to be a first in the United States. While Modern Hebrew is offered at the high school level in many cities, children in elementary school in Del Mar and Solana Beach are able to select from a variety of language choices including Modern Hebrew.
Children learn to speak, read and write Modern Hebrew and learn about contemporary Israeli culture through music, food and classic stories. Designed to build confidence and vocabulary, the program uses an immersion style approach and active learning: song, stories, arts and crafts and games. For conversational skill instruction, the instructor speaks primarily in Hebrew translating only when necessary for communication; vocabulary focuses on everyday lives (food, home, school, etc.) and children are encouraged to respond in Hebrew. For reading/writing skills instruction, the teacher instructs in English using authentic materials from Israel.
Tarbuton Teachers are native Hebrew speakers with elementary school experience. Classes are appropriate for all backgrounds interested in Modern Hebrew. Language learning supports academic achievement, provides cognitive benefits, and affects attitudes about language learning and other cultures. (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages).
