Motorcyclist Suffers Life Threatening Injuries in Carmel Valley

San Diego Police Department's Traffic Division is investigating the accident involving a 22-year-old motorcyclist on Monday evening.

San Diego Police reported that a 22-year-old motorcyclist was riding at a high rate of speed on Carmel Country Road near Derrydown Way in Carmel Valley on Monday evening when he lost control.

Officer David Strafford said the motorcyclist struck the center divider, slid 100 yard and struck a tree. 

The accident occurred at about 6:35 p.m.

Police said the driver was transported to a local hospital with serious head and leg injuries. Strafford reported his injuries were life threatening.

SDPD is investigating.
