Outdoor Clothing Drive For Homeless Set Today In San Diego
The collection point is the civic center complex, so gather your extra coats, sweatshirts, hats, gloves ... and help a great cause!

San Diegans with extra cold-weather gear can donate them today for an annual San Diego event that assists the homeless with goods and services.
Items can be dropped off between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. at Golden Hall, part of the civic center complex at 202 C St.
Donated materials will be distributed Wednesday at Project Homeless Connect, a sort of one-stop shop for those living on the streets or in shelters.
Because of this winter’s stormy weather, rain jackets, warm coats, sweatshirts, umbrellas and socks are especially in demand, particularly for men. Other items needed this year are shoes, blankets, backpacks and gloves.
The items can be new or “gently’’ used.

The homeless will also be served with meals by Father Joe’s Villages and receive haircuts, medical checkups and other services.
Last year, 1,145 homeless people were served at Project Homeless Connect. More than 60 percent were living on the streets, vehicles or shelters; 58 percent were 51 years old or older; 79 percent were single; and 60 percent
were men.
