San Diego County Sheriff's Department: Death Investigation – Vista Detention Facility

On November 6, 2021, a sixty-three-year-old male inmate at Vista Detention Facility was transported to a local area hospital for medical reasons. Unfortunately, the male's medical condition deteriorated. On the afternoon of November 23, 2021, the inmate was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The Sheriff's Homicide Unit responded and assumed responsibility for the investigation.

The Medical Examiner's Office has not determined an autopsy date. The Homicide Unit is coordinating with the Medical Examiner's Office to attempt to locate the inmate's family.
