On January 18, 2022, at approximately 0928 hours, deputies from the North Coastal Sheriff's Station's Transit Enforcement Unit responded to a report of a pedestrian who was struck by a North County Transit District Coaster Train at the Surfrider Way railroad crossing in the City of Oceanside. The pedestrian sustained severe injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
