Update: Three Found Dead at Rancho Penasquitos Home

Police have released more information about the man, woman and child found dead.

Update:

Three people have died, the result of a murder-suicide in a Rancho Penasquitos home, police said today.

All of the victims had gunshot wounds to the upper body, San Diego Police Department Lt. Paul Rorrison said.

An adult female was found in the kitchen area of the house and a male child and male adult found in an upstairs bedroom, Rorrison said.

Rorrison said it appeared the adult male had shot the female and the child before killing himself.

Officers had been called to the house, on the 9500 block of High Park Lane at around 11:15 a.m. to conduct a welfare check after the family had not been seen for two days, according to Rorrison.

Rorrison said the identities of the victims were known but would not be immediately released.

Patrol officers checking on the welfare of the residents of a Rancho Penasquitos home today found three people dead inside.

San Diego police made the discovery in the 9500 block of High Park Lane about 11:15 a.m., SDPD spokesman Humberto Hernandez said.

A child was among the deceased, according to broadcast reports.

Homicide detectives were called in to take over the investigation, Hernandez said.

The victims’ names and ages were not immediately available.
