Tidepool Trail, Parking Lot Temporarily Closed at Cabrillo National Monument
The construction closures affect the parking lot closest to the water, the public restrooms and a section of the coastal trail.
SAN DIEGO, CA: A portion of the popular tidepools at the Cabrillo National Monument will be closed through June while improvements are made to the area, the National Park Service announced Tuesday.
The closures will affect the parking lot closest to the water, the public restrooms and a section of the coastal trail. Two other parking lots will be available, but are likely to fill quickly.
The work is designed to improve the trail and bring the parking lot to Americans With Disabilities Act standards, according to the NPS.

The tidepools, located below sandstone cliffs at the tip of Point Loma, are depressions where water is trapped during low tides, forming small pools that provide habitats for plants, invertebrates and fish. Among the species found there are California mussels, anemones, limpets, snails, crabs, lobsters and octopuses.
