• American Discovery Trail relay celebrating 250 years of America to pass through East County (thepress.net) — A national relay celebrating America’s 250th birthday will climb Mt. Diablo and follow local trails down to Heather Farm Park in Walnut Creek before continuing through East County and on toward Sacramento. Diablo-area residents can still sign up to run, bike, or volunteer when the 6,800‑mile American Discovery Trail relay passes nearby in early July.
