Arroyo Elementary Set to Open 1955 Time Capsule
Current students will bury their own memory box of artifacts on Feb. 10.

Arroyo Elementary School is set to open a 60-year-old time capsule that was buried inside a wall of the school cafeteria by the class of 1955. Former alumni – who alerted Arroyo Principal Claudia Ruiz of the capsule after it went undetected for decades – will attend the event to see what they buried.
Alumni include Bruce Asper, the oldest son of Arroyo’s first principal, and Joe Williams, who attended the school as a child and now works at Pomona Unified.
Arroyo’s current sixth-grade students will bury their own time capsule and place it in the same spot of the cafeteria – behind a bronze dedication plaque.
