June Gloom and Beachy Stepping Stones

Mosaic sandal stepping stones. A summer project to walk away from cultural cares on.

What happened to the drought?  It's June. This is Southern  California. How did we wake up twice this week to clouds drip-drying during the overnight?

What hit the ground would only be called rain in our Mediterranean-style climes. What wrung from the heavens wasn't important so much for the moisture as it was the scent. Redolent of moments washed with the tears of  angels blending with earth.

For what could angels cry for this week? Perhaps for the coarseness of the culture which was displayed with all the obscurity of a male peacock in full courtship.

Last week, didn't we all get treated to more than enough news of what should not be sent over the Internet? For one - Isn't it obvious that when a man sends inapporpriate pictures over the Internet to women he doesn't know: 1. He is abusing all the unpaid overtime engineers put into developing the technology. 2. Such faceless interaction  is nothing more than flashing cyber-style. Enough.

As a culture, perhaps we've wasted our brains away trying to channel our inner child when what is needed is more people willing to expose their inner adult. (Now clear your mind of all the bad jokes that just went through it.)

Create projects. Not inappropriate relationships.

Walk away. Maybe on a path of stained glass and marble stepping stones.

Glenda Bona describes how she customized a standard stepping stone kit from  Michael's.

" I used my own marbles for the straps, then separated out the colors of glass and used color themes for each set. I added some of my own scrap glassbut most of it was from the kit. I have a lot of their roughly broken glasspieces left from the kits I bought. "

Her advice to novices — be sure to press the marbles in well. Otherwise, next year you may be needing clear exterior grade glue.
