Local Nov. Elections: Diamond Bar City Council and School Boards

November elections around Diamond Bar and Walnut are just around the corner.

Diamond Bar will hit campaign fever come this fall as elections are slated on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 for city council, school board and community college trustees.

The nomination period begins on Monday, July 18, 2011 and will run through Friday, August 12, 2011. However, the last day of the filing period could be extended for another 5 days if an incumbent decides to not seek re-election and the filing period will end on Wednesday, August 17, 2011.

Two City Council positions are up for grabs on the Diamond Bar City Council. Incumbents Councilmembers Carol Herrera and Jack Tanaka are up for an election.

Two Board of Trustees positions are up for grabs on the Walnut Valley Unified School District. Incumbents Carolyn Elfelt and Larry Redinger are up for an election.

Two Board of Trustees positions are up for grabs on the Pomona Unified School District Board of Education. Incumbents Jason Rothman and Richard Rodriguez must stand for re-election.

Three Board of Trustees positions are up for grabs on the Mt. San Antonio Community College Board of Trustees. Incumbents Manuel Baca, Rosanne Bader and Fred Chyr are up for re-election.

Sources are saying that Walnut Valley USD Board of Trustee Member Carolyn Elfelt is not seeking re-election, so a new face will be seated on the dais governing the school district that covers all of Walnut and southern portion of Diamond Bar.

For those interested in running for the Diamond Bar City Council are to file their intention to be a candidate with Tommye Cribbens, Diamond Bar City Clerk, at City Hall.

All school board contests candidates interested in becoming a candidate are to file necessary paperwork with the Los Angeles County Registrar of Voters in Norwalk.
