Harrison Elementary to Host 3rd Annual Readiness Parent Conference
The Oct. 25 conference is geared toward African American parents to receive guidance on how to support the education of their children.

Harrison Elementary School will be the host site of the 3rd Annual Readiness conference, a program geared toward African American parents to receive guidance on how to support the education of their children from birth to eighth-grade.
Sponsored by the Pomona Alliance of Black School Educators (PABSE) and the Pomona Unified School District, the mini parent conference will provide information on:
- The importance of nutrition and its effects on learning
- Accelerated Reader and how parents can support reading at home
- Common Core shifts and how to support children’s learning at home
- College and career requirements
- Resources available locally to promote literacy and math
The program will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 25 at Harrison Elementary School, 425 E. Harrison Ave., in Pomona.

PABSE is committed to serving African American students in Pomona Unified, providing resources, enrichment opportunities and growth to ensure their success in school and career. Sessions will be facilitated by PUSD teachers and staff.
