Kids 4 Kids Talent Show

Local youth group produced a 2-night talent show to benefit families of children afflicted with cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

Spring is always a great reminder of hope. Although the Let it Be Foundation work tirelessly year-round to help children afflicted with pediatric cancer and other life-threatening diseases, their annual Kids 4 Kids Talent Show is perfectly set for spring. Not only does the event raise funds and awareness for the cause, but it also binds the community and showcases talented individuals within Chino Valley. The show certainly provides inspiration and hope to everyone involved – from the organizers, to the performers, and most importantly, the children who are being supported by the Foundation.

This year the Kids 4 Kids Talent Show was held on March 18 and March 19 at the Brinderson Hall (Chino Fairground). Local elementary, junior high, and high schools were all well represented.

A small group of second graders from Oxford Preparatory Academy (OPA) sung “That’s What Friends are For” for their friend James Janosky. It was a beautiful tribute to James who was diagnosed with Childhood Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia less than a year ago. He is currently undergoing treatments and as a result, have missed the wonderful adventures of being in second grade. Despite not being there, James was able to enjoy his friends’ beautiful performance via FaceTime. His mother said that “We are so amazed and feel blessed to have so much support!”

Chino Valley is abundant with talents. The show featured local youth performers - singers, dancers, actors, and even a magic act. Adam Baty entertained the crowd not only with his magic, but also by his wit and wonderful chemistry with his assistant Ryan Varney.

Calvin Paras, a fifth grader from Oxford Preparatory Academy (OPA), was truly excited to perform again this year. “I want to use my time and talent to help others – I find satisfaction in that.” He added that when he gets older, he intends to become part of the Foundation’s youth leadership program like his friend Alyssa Bencomo.

The Let it Be Foundation’s Youth Leadership program provides an avenue for local youth to grow as leaders as well as become an integral part of a team that helps families of children afflicted with cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Alyssa Bencomo, an eight-grader at OPA, and other youth leaders organize several events including the Dance of Hope, 5K Run/Walk, golf tournaments, and lemonade stands. The Let it Be Foundation and its youth leaders dedicate their time to raise funds, support families during trying times, and bring joy to children.
